Visiting Magistrate for Year 6

Last week, Class 6 were very fortunate to have a visit from the local Magistrate, Elaine Terry. Elaine explained about her role as a magistrate and the differences between the two main courts in England: Magistrate and Crown. The children had to decide which kind of crimes go to a Magistrate Court and which would end up in the Crown. The children listened carefully, asked sensible questions and contributed to discussions. The class found out many interesting facts and how a criminal record can affect your future – university, holidays, job prospects and more.
