A hockey win for Clavering Primary School!
On Friday 6th February, Clavering played their first Hockey match of the season against Henham and Ugley.
The team were a little nervous about playing their first match, but quickly found their feet. They played extremely well with Jessica and Thomas defending alongside Joseph, the goal keeper, whilst George, Daisy, Heidi, Tabitha and Lawrence were constantly on the attack. There was a minor setback when Tabitha was injured, so after a quick substitution Hollie quickly took position. At half time the score remained 0-0.
In the second part of the match the attackers continued to invade their opponents space and eventually their efforts were rewarded when George Oakes scored a magnificent goal. Henham and Ugley tried to make the score even, but fortunately their shot was saved by Joseph, just before the final whistle.
A very happy team celebrated the 1-0 final score. Well done.
Congratulations to George, Daisy, Jessica, Tabitha, Hollie, Heidi, Lawrence, Thomas and Joseph!
Hockey Tournament
Clavering played in a hockey tournament at Joyce Frankland Academy on Wednesday 25th February.
We first played Howe Green School and we lost 1-0. We then played St Mary’s who we beat quite easily the score being 3 – 0. Next was Chrishall, it was a very even game but Chrishall scored in the last minute making the final score 1- 0 to them.
Our last game was Bentfield and we were definitely the better team. We played very well as a team and beat them 1-0 at full time.
At the end a teacher from another school commented on the good sporting behaviour of our children. Well done.
