TAG RUGBY
A Team Report by Jack Wilson, Max West and Joseph Berrett
We arrived at J.F.A.N. and started our first match against Farnham with George Oakes as a substitute. Soon after, Sophie came off and George came on. In the end we won 12-0.
In the second game we played Chrishall with Max as a substitute. After that Teija came off and Max went on. When the game finished the score was 5-1 to us.
After that we went to play Debden in our third match. Our first sub was Elliot and we lost 6-5. They scored in the last minute. Our second sub was Teija.
In the fourth game we played Elsenham with Ziggy as a substitute. After that Maddie went off and Ziggy went on. The end score was 5-4 to us. We got the results and the Clavering A team were in the finals. In the first half we played against Debden again. Sophie got injured and Teija as substitute came on for Sophie. In the last minute of the second half the score was 5-5. The Debden player ran to the try line and scored. We lost the match but we did at least come second in the competition. We love our medals and are looking forward to going on to play at Henham in March.
B Team Report by Thomas Berrett and George Coy
The sun was not shining but it did not rain. In our first match we played Chrishall and Rickling. We won 4 tries to 3. In our fourth and final match we all played really well against Wimbish and we won 4:2 with a few very important tries throughout the whole match.
On Wednesday 4th March, some of the year 6 pupils played in the Uttlesford Tag Rugby finals at Howe Green School.
Their first match was against Newport Primary. It was a close match but Clavering prevailed. The final score was 6 – 5 to Clavering.
We then played Thaxed and we also beat them 6 -5 followed by the final team Howe Green School who beat us 7 – 4.
On the second round we played Felsted who beat us, then we played Elsenham who also beat us and our final game was against Debden who also won.
Some good tag rugby was played with excellent try scoring by several of the team. We were complimented on our good team spirit and brilliant behaviour. We then enjoyed the hospitality at the competition, including sausage rolls, marshmallows and haribos!!!! Well done Clavering.
