Years 5 and 6 visit to Daws Hall
Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a very hands on (and wellies in) field study day at Daws Hall Study Centre on Wednesday this week. They improved their map reading and compass skills in following the course of the river and its tributaries through the valley. They observed evidence of erosion and deposition along the river and were also able to measure the flow, temperature, depth, width and level of pollutants in the River Stour, comparing this data with readings and samples taken from the brook which fed into the main river. Staff at the centre were impressed by the children’s prior knowledge and their work at school and their keen questioning. The practical work at the centre has certainly been a valuable experience in furthering that understanding and enriching the curriculum. Thank you to the parents who came along with us and helped out on the day.
