On Thursday 19th May Classes 5 and 6 went to the Houses of Parliament. On arrival we were given a tour of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. We learnt about the history of the buildings and we got to watch the peers and the MP’s debate the Queen’s speech from the public galleries. Afterwards we had a workshop explaining how laws were made and the process they go through before laws are passed. At the end of the workshops both classes met Sir Alan Hazlehurst MP. The children displayed their knowledge of current events in the news through the questions they asked Sir Alan, on the housing crisis and the EU referendum. It was a very informative and memorable day.
