Headteacher Newsletter Issue 8
FORTNIGHTLY NEWSLETTER ISSUE 8: 12.1.18
Happy New Year to you all and welcome back to a new term. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
We have an exciting term ahead. Class letters have been distributed, which outline the curriculum for the term. They are also available via our website.
INSET Dates for the academic year 2018 – 2019 – amendment
We have just been informed that our expansion may take longer than we had hoped and therefore may not be finished for the start of the next academic year. Therefore we will need to move our extra INSET day, which has been authorised by the Local Authority, as time to prepare the new build for the children. This was circulated at the beginning of December.
We will inform you of the new date once we are clearer when the completion date will be. In the meantime the confirmed INSET days for the next academic year are as follows – (the extra one which was 5th September, has been removed) –
INSET Dates for the academic year 2018 – 2019
Schools allocate five non-pupil days for staff training:

Footwear and Hair
In the interest of safety, as well as appearance, pupils should wear suitable footwear for school. Shoes should fasten securely and be plain black and low heeled with enclosed toes. Boots, sandals, sling backs and trainers are not appropriate for school. Trainers can be worn for PE.
Please can we avoid children having decorative haircuts and/or hair colouring during term time.
Snow Patrol
It’s getting to that time of year again – if you would like to volunteer your services to help Mr Docking to clear the school grounds in the event of snow, please let the office know so that we can compile a list of names. We are very grateful for any offers of help, so that school can, where possible, remain open.
Bad weather
In the event of severe weather conditions and possible school closure a notice will be placed on the school website.
Parents will be notified via our school website or the Essex County Council on the ‘Emergency School Closures’ page: https://www.essex.gov.uk/education-schools/schools/dates/pages/emergency-school-closures.aspx
Please note that when the school is open in bad weather a path will be cleared to enable you to gain access to the school but care does still need to be taken.
Lateness
School starts at 8.50 a.m. We have noticed several children that are consistently arriving late for school – ‘late’ is defined by not being within the school gates by 8.50 a.m. Please make every effort to be at school on time and if you know that your journey will be disrupted by road works, do allow time for this. Thank you.
