Staffing

Unfortunately Helen Howett, who started as a Learning Support Assistant in September, will be leaving us on Thursday 31^st January, so that she has more time to pursue her hobbies and interests around her other commitments.  We wish her well and look forward to seeing her when she drops off and picks up the children that attend Willows.

Mrs Perry and Mrs Thomas are increasing their hours in this class to cover this role.

Talent Camp Trials

Three of our Year 6 children, Rose, Grace and Seraphina were selected to attend talent camp trials at JFAN last week. They all very much enjoyed the experience and are waiting to hear if they have been selected to go forward to the talent camp which will be held in May.

Sports Hall Athletics

Year 6 competed in the Uttlesford Schools Partnership Sports Hall Athletics tournament on Wednesday this week. Eight schools took part and competition was very strong. Every child competed in at least one track and field event and should be commended for their excellent team spirit, support for one another and behaviour representing the school. They did extremely well narrowly being beaten into second place by just one point.

Parent Forum

Our Parent Forum met this week.  We discussed themes for our themed weeks.  We are also looking to hold one in the Summer term.  The theme for this term will be linked to an Eco/Environmental/Back to basics theme and the one in the Summer term will be a Professional Week.

Class representatives will be in touch shortly requesting volunteers to come and talk to the children during the themed week beginning 18th March.

Further ideas for clubs are being explored through this forum.

E-safety – Fortnite

Please can we remind you about the e-safety messages around the game Fortnite.  A number of our pupils seem to be accessing it.

Fortnite is an online game and is not suitable for children under 12 years old based on the content.  A number of primary age children are accessing it.  It has a PEGI rating of 12.

Please note this PEGI rating only takes into account the content in the game and not the contact element, where players may be exposed to swearing and offensive language from strangers in voice or on-screen text chat.

 Sharing Assemblies – an invitation!

We would like to invite our parents to attend one of your child’s Sharing Assemblies.  The assemblies take place in the hall on a Friday afternoon and start at 2.45pm.  Listed below are dates when your child’s class will be taking part in a Sharing Assembly.  Please join us on this date:

Bad weather

In the event of severe weather conditions and possible school closure a notice will be placed on the school website.

Parents will be notified via our school website or the Essex County Council on the ‘Emergency School Closures’ page: https://www.essex.gov.uk/education-schools/schools/dates/pages/emergency-school-closures.aspx.  We will always endeavour to provide details about school closure as soon as possible.

Please note that when the school is open in bad weather a path will be cleared to enable you to gain access to the school but care does still need to be taken.

The parents who agreed to assist the school with communicating school closure to other parents have now received their contact lists.  It is important that this communication to other parents is made by telephone to ensure the message is received. Please do not rely on text messages, emails or social media.

THE TIDIEST CLASSROOM OF THE WEEK!

Our cleaners are judging the tidiest classroom each week. The winners are announced in assembly on a Friday. The class that has won the most times at the end of a term will be awarded an afternoon with an activity of their choice or an extra playtime.

Class 3, especially Ethan, Lacey, Pheonix, Woody, Alex, Charlie W, Lincoln, Rory – for helping the Midday Assistants and Playleaders.

REMINDERS:

• SWIMMING, Year 3 will have a term of swimming instruction in the Spring term. If your child is fit to attend school then they are fit to go swimming, unless a medical note is provided.  Swimming will commence Monday 7^th January for 12 weeks.  Voluntary contributions, which cover the cost of the swimming teaching and transport, can be paid termly – £73.00   Please make cheques payable to Clavering Primary School.
• DINNER MONEY is £2.20 per day. If you wish to pay up until half term, the amount will be £68.20 or £134.20 for the whole spring term.
