Reception Class visit Wire Farm in Chrishall
We are really grateful to Caroline and Phil Rogers for hosting us at their cattle farm in Chrishall. The weather was perfect and the cows mooed a welcome when we arrived (after an exciting journey on the posh coach). Caroline met us and took us to the barn outdoor classroom. We learned all about and the difference between wheat, oats and barley. We explored the seeds and saw the ears on the wheat. Then we walked over to the fields to see the crops. We enjoyed watching the tractors hook up to their machinery and the smell of the freshly baked bread using flour from the farm’s wheat. Lunch was fun under the trees on the grass where we could run and climb on the old tractor tyre. Caroline had also baked some cheese scones which we could also try using wheat flour from the farm. We loved meeting the cattle and using some of their passports and their tags to try to identify them. We also met Huey and Doodles the horses and Lola the dog. What an absolute treat. Well done all of you and a special thank you to Hollie, Michelle and Laura for their help today.
