Special visit for Reception Class

Reception class had a special visit from Maeve’s Grandad Earl who is a volunteer Blood Bike Rider. He works in Essex and uses his special motorbike to deliver human blood and baby milk in emergencies and when it is needed. Before he came to Clavering, Earl had already delivered blood to the air ambulance helicopters at North Wield Airport. He talked about his role and how the bike is a much faster way to deliver as he can get through busy traffic much quicker. the children were very engaged and asked some super questions. They loved hearing the three different sirens and seeing the blue flashing lights and even got to sit on the bike if they wanted to.
A huge thank you to Earl and Maeve’s family for helping to organise this to support our learning about transport and for raising awareness of this vital role.
