Remembrance
The children were once again a credit to the school on Monday. Year 6 and the School Council joined the local community at the village war memorial as part of Remembrance Day. The rest of the school, after an assembly first thing in the morning, took part in a two minute silence to mark the occasion.

Children in Need
The School Council decided on how we can support Children in Need this year. The children came into school today with crazy hair or wearing a crazy hat. Thank you to everyone that have supported this event. We are in the process of counting how much money we have raised.
Tag Rugby
Last week, Mr Snelling and Miss Morton took a group of year 5 & 6 pupils to JFAN for a Tag Rugby tournament. We entered two teams into the competition, with both teams winning every single match! Team A went into a semi finals situation where they continued their winning streak but lost in the finals. Team B were the overall winners of their group. Some of the children will be selected to go to the next round in a couple of weeks time. A huge thank you to Mrs Clutterbuck and Mr Anderson for coming to the tournament and coaching Team B through to victory. We are also very grateful to all the parents who transported the children to and from this event.
Friendship Week
Every year at Clavering, we have Friendship Week in the Autumn Term. All the children get together in their houses and take part in a variety of activities. It has been wonderful to see all the children working together and demonstrating their friendship skills. As part of Friendship Week, the houses vote for their Head and Deputy House Captains. The year 6’s who put themselves forward for this prepared a speech and delivered this to their house. All the speeches were thoughtful, well prepared and spoken clearly and confidently. Miss Morton, Mrs Martin and Mr Snelling were incredibly proud of all the year 6’s who gave speeches. Here are the results of the voting:
Ludgate:
Head – Carrie
Deputy – Henry
Oliver:
Head – Maya
Deputy – Alexa
Saville:
Head – Darcey
Deputy – Elsa
Wales:
Head – Jemima
Deputy – Evie
Wymarc:
Head – Milly
Deputy – Esme
Parent Forum
We had our first Parent Forum this week. Thank you to our new representatives for attending. The focus was to establish the group and communication systems. We discussed the School Improvement Plan and how the forum could support this. We are looking to have a Professional Week next term, which will be an opportunity for parents/relatives/contacts to come in and talk to the children about different professions and develop their speaking and listening skills. We are also looking to coordinate parent volunteers with the first focus being reading. Your representatives will be in touch in due course.
Neon Disco
The children thoroughly enjoyed the Neon disco last week. A big thank you to Jenny and her Friends of Clavering team for organising and running the event.
Open Morning
Last week we had an Open Morning for potential new families. The children were a credit to the school, especially year 6 who met with our visitors in the school hall to talk about their school and answer any questions. Thank you to Anna Green and Natalie Clutterbuck for organising the refreshments and supporting the event.
Dinner Money – pre-ordering meals
From 4th November, you will be required to order your child’s lunches in advance. Advanced ordering will help our school kitchen budget more effectively, enabling correct quantities of food to be ordered ahead of time, resulting in less waste. For those parents who pay for their child’s meals, this new system should also help with the management of their Scopay account. Meals will need to be ordered a minimum of 1 week in advance. If a change to a meal choice is required, the cut-off time will be 8am on that morning. If a child has an authorised absence, eg sickness, you will not be charged for that meal if you have pre-paid.
For parents of children in Key Stage 2 who pay for meals, you will need to ensure there is enough credit in their Scopay account to pay for the meals you wish to order. The system will notify you if there is not enough credit to proceed.
Lateness
School starts at 8.50 a.m. We have noticed several children are consistently arriving late for school – ‘late’ is defined by not being within the school gates by 8.50 a.m. Please make every effort to be at school on time and if you know that your journey will be disrupted by road works, do allow time for this.
Please note that lateness is recorded on a per pupil basis and could add up to an ‘unauthorised’ absence.
Thank you.
